Ty Daye
Ty Daye, who hails from Newark NJ (also known as Brick City), is a Certified Life Coach, Animal Flow Instructor, Stretch Therapist, Meditation & Reiki Practitioner, and the first Black male yoga instructor from his city. He continues to achieve multiple certifications to this day.
Ty graduated from the first HBCU, Thee Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, with a dual degree and minor in pre-law with honors. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Beta Chapter.
He is the Founder and CEO of Newark Greek Council (est. 2015), promoting Greek unity in Newark and throughout New Jersey.
Ty’s passion lies in raising awareness and sharing his story of fitness, healing, and mental health as a Black man. His slogan, “How he traded his trauma for a yoga mat and his testimony,” captures his journey.
After serving as a legislative aide to former West Ward Councilman Ronald C. Rice and Senior Aide to Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Ty now works as an attendance counselor in the Newark Public School system. His vision is to uplift future leaders through holistic practices, enrichment programs, and by breaking generational curses and toxic masculinity.
He is also launching a health and wellness clothing line, with a percentage of proceeds supporting mental health clinics for men and women of color.
